Hi there,

I'm Sarah, a part-time postgraduate student at the University of Leeds. In the first year of my MA I set up and ran a creative writing project through the university's volunteer and community society, Action. We worked with a group of children from a local primary school to increase enthusiasm for - and ability in! - literacy through the medium of imaginative creative writing. The project was a storming success. Finding awarded by J49 enabled us to create and print anthologies of the children's work, one for each participant as a reminder of what they had achieved and as encouragement for them to keep going, and one for the school as a keepsake.

The school have invited us back and there are a number of volunteers keen on working with us on a repeat of the project, so we'll just have to wait and see what the new year brings!
