What it's all about
ok, so cafe's and restauants in london dispose of over one million pounds of food daily,
yet homeless people are dying at an alarming rate and low income families cant feed
themselves, so?
let arrange a food pickup from the cafes??
What's needed to make it a reality
i need admin help, i need people to talk people about my idea, i need maybe some money or somethin ....

This is a fantastic idea. You're right so much good food is thrown away daily from cafes, when there are people out there who would greatly benefit from it. This would be a really great project to set up and once links have been created with cafes etc... would hopefully be a project which could be sustained long into the future.
As you are a student at Middlesex you can access up to £750 to turn your idea into a reality. Middlesex is one of 12 Universities who are taking part in the scheme where you can access funding, training and support from your Junction49 staff member (Rich) to help you get your project up and running.

Helen Bottomley also commented on an idea a while ago and mentioned these websites, which might be useful to you:
www.londonfnb.org/
www.foodnotbombs.net
The food not bombs initiative is similar to what you're trying to achieve, so might be useful to check out the websites, or you can even get in touch with Helen Bottomley via Junction49, as she's been involved in this before.
Good luck, let us know if you need any help :-)

I'm Rich, the volunteer support officer for Middlesex University. This idea sounds excellent! I'm sure the homeless community of North London would gratefully welcome any donations of food.
If you would like to meet up for coffee to see how we can take this forward let me know. I can help you access up to £750 of funding to run this project and provide you with any advice you need on how to approach restaurants. I'm based in Hendon but if your in Trent Park or Cat Hill I can travel to meet you. Let me know what day is good for you. You can email at: Junction49@mdx.ac.uk or call 0208 411 6618
